Our technical services team still sees Windows 7 on NVR and ACS servers at some facilities. This is concerning as End of Life (EOL) Windows 7 has not been supported by Microsoft since January 2020. If you still run Windows 7, your operating system may appear fine on the surface, but since Microsoft no longer supports it with patch updates to the software, it is vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

It is alarming to see that some facilities are still running Windows 7 on their NVR and ACS servers, despite the fact that Microsoft ended support for this operating system in January 2020.

While your system may appear to be functioning perfectly fine, the reality is that without the necessary patch updates and security fixes from Microsoft, it becomes susceptible to cyber-attacks. As an expert in the field, I cannot stress enough the importance of upgrading to a current and supported product. I understand that the cost of upgrading may be a concern, but the risks associated with continuing on an EOL system far outweigh the expenses of the upgrade.

Protecting your organization's assets from cyber threats should be a top priority, and investing in a secure operating system is the first step toward achieving that. Your security is our priority, and we are here to help.

While we understand the budgeting impact of upgrading your software is significant, our technical services team highly recommends upgrading to a current, supported product to help protect your organization’s assets from cyber-attacks. The risks of continuing on an EOL system are potentially far greater than the cost of the upgrade if your system is attacked.

If you have further questions about issues prevalent with EOL software, how to best plan for preventing cyber-attacks, and budgeting strategies contact us at info@abscosolutions.com.
